600 acres of forest for outdoor recreation
The Seeley Hills Recreation Area includes Sawyer County Forest property and the Urenholdt Memorial Demonstration Forest. The silent sports trail system was initially developed by the Seeley Ski Club in partnership with Sawyer County Forestry and Wisconsin to provide an area for outdoor recreation, including skiing, mountain biking, hiking, snowshoeing, and hunting.
Dog-friendly Outdoor Recreation
All the trails in the Seeley Hills Recreation area are open to dogs, including the groomed ski trails during the winter. Dogs must be under control at all times.
Seeley Hills Club
The Seeley Hills Club is a membership-based nonprofit club with mission to develop, maintain and preserve year-round trails for non-motorized use that are family and dog friendly on The Seeley Hills Recreation land.
Hunting
The Seeley Hills area is open to hunting. Check the WDNR website to see what is in season. Trail users should be aware that they may encounter hunters. During deer gun season, all users should wear blaze orange.
Urenholdt Memorial Demonstration Forest
Marker at the Uhrenholdt Memorial Forest established by farmer Soren J. Uhrenholdt on land that was part of northern Wisconsin's "Cutover Region." A leader in sustainable farming and forestry, Uhrenholdt's property was donated to the state. In the photograph are conservationist Sigurd Olson, who married Uhrenholdt's daughter, and two of her siblings.
Seeley Lions PreFat
The Seeley Lions Club PreFat Mountiain Bike Race is the largest fundraiser for the Seeley area. The Seeley Lions Club donated the funds for the Seeley Hills Trailhead warming hut and helps fund trail annual maintenance.
